30/03/03: Following the request for information about class 47s hauling 2nd generation units (photo and info repeated below here), Anthony Flusk sent this photo of 47854 at Manchester Piccadilly in the early hours of Saturday 30th March 2003, having worked light from Longsight to Guide Bridge to rescue a class 323 EMU which had been sat there for some time since late on Friday 29th on a service heading into Manchester. It is thought to have arrived at Piccadilly empty, the train having failed in the station at Guide Bridge. Looking at the site archive for the time, 47854 didn't seem to be doing much other than sitting at Longsight and making occasional trips to Preston for thunderbird duties. |

09/07/86: Contributor David Hall found the image shown here for sale at Leyburn station recently. There is no copyright on the photo and only brief details of location (Bodorgan) and date (Wed 09/07/86). It shows 47150, these days sat around at Basford Hall - one of the withdrawn 47/0s that has escaped scrapping or 57 conversion - coupling up to a 150/1 at about 2100ish facing in the Holyhead direction. Whilst this is very rare to occur on a passenger train, a unit expert known by The Class 47 List site editor has seen a 150 being dragged using some sort of an emergency coupler. |
