26/04/10: Some more Riviera 47s seen at home in Crewe, 47843 and 47848 together on the former DMD. Although 47847 has been out of service for a long time, 47848 has actually not worked a passenger train for three months more, having last worked a class 1 train on 16th June 2007 when it worked in multiple with 847 coincidentally on 1Z67 1613 York-Preston to Carlisle, where 847 was removed and hauled the train south down the WCML with 848 remaining on the rear. 848 did work a selection of parcels trains for GB Railfreight in 2008, and was also involved in moving 47747 to Crewe on 28/02/08.

24/04/10: 47786 stands at Paignton station after arrival with the 1Z10 charter from Leeds which it worked from Water Orton, with the crowds being very obedient and remaining behind the prohibition warning signs at the end of the platforms.

19/04/10: 47575 was moved today from Crewe Heritage Centre to Booths at Rotherham for scrap, it left Crewe at 1125, arriving at Booths at 1545.

19/04/10: Another view of 575 on the way. It has long been expected to be moved for scrap, it moved to the East Lancs Railway in November 2005 and had its farewell runs on 20th May 2007 when it was revealed it would be used for spares because of electrical faults.

09/04/10: 'Great Britain 3' saw 47760 have a ride around Scotland, seen at Preston. 760 worked 5Z60 0546 Carnforth-Preston, it was then allocated to 0Z60 0915 Preston-Glasgow Central and presumably did this judging by the tail lights illuminated on the back of the loco, awaiting for the charter to depart first. Later in the day it would work 5Z61 1758 Glasgow Central-Cadder Yard (with 70013 on the rear).

The train isn't booked to leave Workington for another minute after this as it is timed to sit at Workington for a while after its diagram finishes in case of other late running units etc, but often leaves there early.

03/04/10: 47192 at Crewe Heritage Centre, the two tone green livery is a bit out of place at a 1980s weekend - the only green 47s during the 1980s were 47079, 47484, 47500 and 47628 in the Great Western Railway dark green from 1985, and 47522 in LNER apple green from 1987. Was 47401 the first 'retro' two tone green repaint in the early 90s? 47833 with bizarre shades, with 47519 replacing it when it became a 47/7 and also 47004 all followed into two tone green during the 90s. Others since on mainline loco's have included 47488 and Freightliner branded 47114 in the 90s, then in this millennium have followed 47851 (Virgin), 47815 (First), 47812 (Riviera), 47840 (GBRf) and 47773 (preserved) - 812 and 851 being the only two with yellow cab window surrounds.
The last 47s cut up in two tone green were 47114 and 47519, before that would presumably be in the early 70s - D1562, D1671, D1734 and D1908 were all scrapped in their original coats of green.
