01/03/86: An unknown working, but during a day of diversions, this is 47484 at Bordesley Junction on the line from Derby to Kings Norton, diverted via Lifford Curve before Kings Norton to head back into Birmingham New Street station. Alan Marshall posted in the news page comments section about this image; "This was during a 5-week period of planned diversions during renewal of the bridge at Proof House Junction, near Birmingham New Street. Kings Norton became the main interchange for Birmingham passengers using Cross Country services." Any further info from this day is of course welcome for contribution.

24/09/86: 47710, this time not cropped but from the same photograph. The loco and its train run south over the bridge into North Queensferry (very close to Rosyth Docks) possibly from Dundee. During 1986 there were a problem with the ailing DMU fleet and the passenger services had a number of loco hauled replacements with 26/27s, also featuring 20s and 47s, however the services to Perth/Dundee/Aberdeen/Inverness were 47s and HSTs. No information on vice-DMU workings from this period is in the archive workings section.
