27/06/87: 47549 passes Kinterbury on the Berks & Hants route heading towards London Paddington on what was a Saturday. This unknown working was thought to have been covering for a class 50 judging by the air-con stock, but all vehicles except the brake vehicle at the rear are first class carriages, so being a Saturday this could be a charter. A look at sixbellsjunction.co.uk reveals there was a High Wycombe-Bournemouth charter using 'at least 47466' on this day though this would be a little off route for that. Any suggestions to sulzerpower@yahoo.co.uk

30/07/87: 47004 at Blackpool North to work 1M51. If you weren't already aware, the grassy area behind the loco was once tracks leading into the main platform area of the station, the eight platforms that remain including this one were the 'excursion' platforms. The former main station area is now a Wilkinsons D.I.Y. superstore, and the grassy area is a car park for an Apollo 2000 store and Mecca bingo. Copyright: Phil Grint

14/08/87: 47318 hauling an HST on 1A26 0735 Plymouth-Paddington, seen at Midgham. 47318 was the last 47 to carry this original large logo railfreight grey (no red stripe), still having it in 2004 when it was scrapped - having had the livery (presumably the same coat of paint) since 1986! It outlasted 47016 which was scrapped in 2000, and 47350 which still carried grey when it was converted to a 57/0 in 1999.
