The following is a guide to what trains are currently# (as at 12/03/04) expected to be hauled by Class 47’s during the summer of 2004. Times in brackets are arrival times, times at Cambridge show arrival and departure times – these are shown because a loco change is expected at Cambridge on Saturdays, the 47 hauling the train only between Norwich and Cambridge.

Additional to the below will be a top'n'tail loco hauled service between Norwich and Lowestoft on Thursday/Friday 29th/30th July using Cotswold Railways Class 47's (see below).

With Arriva reported as looking forward to the end of March when their 47 turns finish, it would be unlikely to expect a return of loco hauled (as has been rumoured) for the summer of 2004. The only loco hauled trains on Arriva will be the Rhymneys (Class 37 hauled) and additionals from Crewe to Cardiff hopefully using Freightliner's 47/8s.
Virgin Cross Country are running several additional weekend (Fri/Sat only) services to ease their summer traffic, but these are to use Class 67s.

IMPORTANT: # Train Operating Companies (TOCs, in this case Anglia and Virgin) reserve the right to change and/or cancel services at short notice. In the case of Anglia diesel haulage is provided due to the Ipswich Tunnel blockade, and in the case of Virgin West Coast Class 47 haulage is provided due to the continued use of Holyhead drivers who do not ‘sign’ Class 57’s. For the winter timetable Liverpool drivers will be used, route learning for north Wales has already commenced for these drivers.
