Before Service

VEX291X and DPX685W posing together. These two would have been the vehicles providing the 379 service on the day but VEX291X was suffering fuel starvation problems and the engine kept shutting down so PFC515W was used instead.

Left to Right (excluding the Olympian) – DPX685W, PFC515W, DCA530X and VEX291X.

Happy Birthday! ‘Krazy Kids’ MEF823W resides in Hulme Hall’s depot when not in use, it normally ventures out on a Saturday afternoon. MEF was owned by Hulme Hall until two years ago. Hulme Hall also have two unserviceable Leyland Titans in their possession.

‘Warrington & District’ (A1 Minibus Services) DCA530X arrives at Hulme Hall’s yard from Warrington before 9am.

On The Road

First out was DPX685W, seen with a BMI aeroplane at Manchester Airport on the 0917 from Grove Lane. PFC515W was the other vehicle used on the timetabled runs, it left Grove Lane at 0934 for Poynton.

The extra buses for the day ran duplicates of the 379 service to the Poynton end of the route. FAO427V was at Grove Lane heading out for its first return trip to Poynton – it followed DPX685W on the 1034 from Grove Lane, returning at 1055 from Poynton.

DPX685W at Handforth Dean Retail Park on the 1055 Poynton-Manchester Airport.

PFC515W outside Poynton County High School working the 1155 Poynton to Manchester Airport. PFC515W obviously used to have a centre exit but this has been replaced with a standard window and a sideways seat. PFC also has an automatic gearbox, quite rare on surviving VR’s.

DCA530X worked one return trip to Poynton, following DPX685W at 1234 from Grove Lane.

WTU487W at Poynton. This did one return trip from Grove Lane.

PFC515W after leaving Grove Lane and turning into Acre Lane on the 1330 Manchester Airport to Poynton 379 – seen from upstairs on WTU487W.

FAO427V one stop west of Bramhall on its second return trip of the day.

PFC515W at Wythenshawe Bus Station on the 1425 Poynton-Manchester Airport. The 379 did not serve Wythenshawe until last weekend when the service was revised and the frequencies increased. Unfortunately this increase does not involve the regular use of VR’s(!) as enough Volvo B6’s and B10’s are owned to cover the two diagrams.

PFC515W at Manchester Airport bus station (which is in a totally different location than it used to be!) between the 1425 Poynton-Manchester Airport and 1530 return.

A developing fault with DPX saw Hulme Halls other decker replace it, Olympian WDL692Y which as per DPX spent many years on the Isle of Wight. Photo taken on London Road, Poynton - on the 1630 from the airport.
